we are very pleased and proud to announce that the registration for the Vienna
International Model United Nations (VIMUN) 2012, which will take place
from 5 to 9 August at the United Nations Office at Vienna, has
already started.

The European institute for Democratic Participation keeps on connecting Europe through offering international exchanges, trainingcourses and seminars for young Europeans.
Travelcosts will be reimbursed afterwards for 70% and food and accomodation during the project is covered fully. Besides this a participation fee of E45 is required.

Max van der Stoel: life and legacy

On April 23, 2011, Max van der Stoel, a human rights professor, politician and diplomat, passed away. Immediately after his passing, individuals began to express words of praise and admiration for his life and his deeds. The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, noted ‘modest and compassionate, he made the difference in many places in the world’. Queen Beatrix learned of his death ‘with great sadness’. These sentiments are befitting for the man who made his life's work the protection of freedoms and human rights for all people.

Chances and challenges for international cooperation and developing countries.
Emerging economies are changing the global playing field which brings both chances and challenges for Europe and developing countries. European norms and practices are not self-evident anymore. BRICS countries apply their own terms and conditions when it comes to international treaties and practices. Specifically the involvement of BRICS countries in Africa has become an area of growing attention and interest. New forms of international cooperation are emerging in which the roles of the Netherlands and Europe are up for debate!
